A research session was organized to present the findings and discuss the outcomes of research projects, funded by NORHED-CPDS Project. This was held on 18th December,2015 at Senate room of the University of Ruhuna.

Generating knowledge in conflict, governance and gender

The project has planned around 25 researches on the various disciplines including gender, governance, development studies, conflict and peace. The ultimate objective of the research component of the project is to generate and share knowledge on the various fields related to the subjects of conflict, peace and development. The project has announced its first call for proposals from University academics and researchers in the country. Small grants will be allocated to selected research papers on annual basis. The project  also include two PhD scholarship grants  for three years and one sort term post doctoral grant to University of Ruhuna for extensive research in the areas of conflict, peace and development studies.

PhD Fellowships

Currently NORHED-CPDS has two Phd fellows pursuing their semester studies in COMSATS Institute of Information Technology,Pakistan which is one of partner universities in the programme. Their research titles are

  • An Analytical study of Socio-Political and economic aspects in the formation of the LTTE movement in Sri Lanka
  • The Ethnic Conflict and Reconciliation process in Sri Lanka: The role of memory on ethnic relations

 NORHED-CPDS small research grants
